My name is Nicholas Serpa, and I'm a visual storyteller.

I've had a camera in my hands ever since I was a kid, and since then I've continued to refine my life’s work - telling visual stories about people, their passions and their communities in formats that are creative, informative and memorable.

I have over eight years of experience producing multimedia stories for organizations big and small across Arizona, and have recently relocated to Pennsylvania. My most recent video position was as a Digital Media Specialist for the City of Peoria, where I producde people-focused video stories for the city’s digital channels and television station, as well as promos, long-form content and more. I also volunteered as an Instructional Assistant at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism (my alma mater) in my spare time, assisting award-winning film producer Peter Byck in teaching a documentary production class to sustainability students. I also perform a variety of corporate, freelance and volunteer video work — I've previously produced videos for Starbucks, Valley of the Sun United Way, Arizona State University, and more.

Recently, I completed the production of Flash Point, a 45-minute minute historical documentary that tells the story of how a rural volunteer fire department grew and evolved into the organization it is today (viewable here). We recently submitted that project for a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award - fingers crossed we’ll receive a nomination this fall! I’m also proud to have been involved in the recent production of Roots so Deep, a four-part documentary about regenerative agriculture directed by Peter Byck, available to stream here.

During my time working as a reporter, I’ve covered education, business, economic development and more for Chamber Business News, The Arizona Republic, Cronkite News and Downtown Devil. My experience creating content for a wide range of organizations has helped me become versatile in a variety of production environments.

From historical mini-docs to high-profile ad spots, each video project I work on is an opportunity for me to take on a new challenge and experiment with storytelling in new ways. I’m always on the lookout for new opportunities to develop my skills and engage with my community in the best way I know how - by capturing moments and sharing them with the world.

I offer a variety of freelance services, including aerial videography/photography, video production and event photography. I also offer video editing services. Want me to help you tell your story? Click here.
